Preventative Health care

Preventative healthcare is one of the most important things you can do for your pet. Unlike us, animal vaccinations are given at least annually for the life of the pet. Vaccinations in dogs are usually started at 7-8 weeks of age, earlier in high-risk situations, and given in a series. In cats the vaccination series is usually started a little later, around 9 weeks of age. Almost all the pets that we see with the feared diseases of distemper and parvovirus come with histories of inadequate vaccination protection.

Not only do we vaccinate your puppy or kitten during these early visits; they are also thoroughly examined for general health and common congenital abnormalities, and de-wormed for both your pet's health and your family's safety. Microchip identification is an extension of preventative healthcare and can be a true lifesaver for your pet. Lost pets without collars or tags are a daily occurrence is the animal world, and sadly, many may be euthanized or have needed treatment for injuries delayed due to lack of owner identification. Please have permanent microchip identification implanted into your pet to maximize you pet's chances of returning home safely.
